Breathing Awareness
Putting it all together: Native American Spirituality, Reiki and Energy healing.
You have been given all of the information in the first lesson in an
attempt to clarify this healing art for you. Ma'heo'o is based on the
techniques I
have learned, with the help of my guides, that best promote healing and
the proper energy flow within the human condition. The techniques
described here will
enable you to be one with Mother Earth and Great Spirit. In manual 1 you
will learn some history of healing, some Native American spirituality
and how to
properly circulate energy through your light body.
Why Did I call it reiki? Well, I tell you that I had a hard time
deciding, even though my guides were telling me. I happened upon this
statement while
searching the net (Simply stated, Reiki can be said to be a synergistic
combination of 'spiritual healing' and 'energy healing' techniques.) so
that's when I came to the decision that it should be called Reiki and
given all the honors that it deserves.
It differs in form from energy healing because ....
* It promotes Self betterment and Advancement
* It allows for and expects Self Healing
* It connects us with all of the 5 elements, bringing us in alignment with and connection to the building blocks of life.
* By using this system, you can enable healing to begin for all things;
Human (mammal), animal, plant, soil, water, bugs, environment, universe,
ect.
How to study the manuals/ Lessons:
* It is always best to study at a pace you are comfortable with.
* Receive attunement number 1 when you first start your study of
Ma'heo'o Reiki", followed by attunement number 2 to be given 24-36 hours
later.
* Study the pages and techniques in the order they are given.
* Study the manuals in numbered order.
* Receive attunement number 3 (master level) upon beginning manual number2, not less than 1 week after attunement #2
* Practice each technique or exercise until you are comfortable with it. Before moving on.
* Practice giving healing treatments everyday. You can study all you
like, if you don't practice giving treatments and getting comfortable
with the energy
exchange, all of your knowledge is useless.
* Drink plenty of water, this promotes energy flow and flushes the toxins out of your body.
* Stay away from alcohol, drugs, caffeine, ect.
* Remove jewelry prior to energy treatments. Some metals conduct energy; you don't want this to interfere with your treatment.

Introduction to Ma'heo'o Reiki
You will begin your study of Ma'heo'o" Reiki by learning to work with
the energy. Every living thing that exists in our world is supported by a
universal energy that connects all life. This universal energy- life
force energy- is conscious and intelligent A field of energy composed of
this universal
energy is collected around every living thing in our world. This every
field we have is what connects us to the divine source and enables us to
possess the
spark of divinity inherent in each of us that all religions speak of.
It is, in effect a bridge or connection from the realm of pure spirit to the physical 3-D realm in which we live.
When our energy field is clear, healthy and free from defects, the
physical body will also exhibit good health in all areas; physically,
mentally, emotionally
and spiritually. The energy field is an indication of our life force and
our link to our higher selves. However, many times disrupted energy
patterns are
present in the energy field causing it to become weak, unbalanced,
blocked or in severe cases torn. When the flow of energy within our
energy field becomes
unstable this prevents our connection to the Divine Source, and our
higher selves. When this occurs we cannot operate as a whole- due to
blockages that affect
our mental, emotional, physical or spiritual well being.
In general the cause of these disruptions in the energy field can be
narrowed down to past trauma (including past lives) which have invaded
the psyche and
allowed impure energies to enter into and disrupt the functioning of the
energy field. Diseases or afflictions of a physical, mental, emotional
or spiritual
natures will them begin to show themselves.
The energy field is connected to our bodies by our chakra and nadis
systems. Chakras and nadis are part of the subtle body, the "light body"
of a
human being.
The chakras can be compared to the organs of the human body and the
nadis can be compared to the circulatory system of the human body. The
nadis are related to
the subtle body and in their function are similar to the function of the
circulatory system in the physical body. Rather than carrying
life-giving blood, nadis
enable the flow of life-force energy. Likewise, the chakras can be
compared to the organs of the physical body, each with a specific
purpose of receiving and
refining the life force energy.
There are seven major chakras in the human body, and also many minor
ones. The chakras are energy centers, points of energy flow, and act as
energy junctions
in the body. They are energy processing centers, and the chakra system
(comprised of the seven major chakras) is our energetic connection to
the realm of pure
consciousness and our spiritual essence. The energetic operations in
them are what make every aspect of our bodily, emotional, mental and
spiritual life
possible. Each of the seven major chakras, or primary energy centers,
has its own character and color, corresponds to aspect of our being and a
layer of our
energy field. They are patterns of energy and are shaped like
whirlpools. They connect with the spinal cord which acts as a central
energy channel to keep
alignment of each one.
Because the chakras are the central energy junctions for our bodies;
blockages and disruptions in them will give rise to a disruption in the
mind, body or
spirit of the human body and also disrupt the flow of energy with in the
energy field. The system cannot operate as a whole unless all parts are
operating
correctly. One part affects all others.
Because the charkas are spiritual entities and are not actual objects
with the body, it will take some practice and development of skills in
order to work with
them.
The nadis system is similar in form and function to the chakra system.
They also are spiritual entities within the human body. Their purpose is
to circulate
energy through out the chakra system. Refer to the pictures to see the
way in which they move the energy. In the next chapter we will focus
more intently on
the charkas and nadis systems.
Now we will start with some exercises to begin our study. We will first be working with breath and awareness.
Focusing on Breath
Take a moment and observe your breath. Focus on your nose. What do you
notice? As you breathe in, there is a cooling sensation. As you breathe
out, there is a
warming sensation. If you continue with this meditation, the mind will
soon get bored. Other thoughts will occur, and soon you will have
forgotten about
observing the breath. Suddenly, you may remember, and bring your focus
back on the breath and nose. Soon however, the mind will be off on its
own journey,
making this meditation seem very difficult.
The breathing process never stops. The practitioner can control the
breath, and through this control, influence the body, the emotions, and
the mind. All of
these are connected. When one is aroused, breathing speeds up. When one
is angry, one tenses and holds the breath. When the mind is peaceful,
the breathing is
regular and deep. These are simple breathing responses to the state of
the body, a direct cause and effect reaction. There are many techniques,
but now, it is
very simple -- breathe. It could change one's life. Without it, there is
no life.
Awareness
Even though the body is quiet, awareness always keeps moving. Awareness
is a sensation, almost a tingling, that is localized to a specific spot
or site. Look
at your left hand. What do you feel there? Blow on it. Immediately,
sensations from your hand flood into your brain. Move this "awareness"
to your
thumb. Feel the sensations specific to your thumb. All other sensations
are forgotten. The brain is still receiving them, but awareness allows
us to narrow the
rush of sensory input. We can consciously choose what input we want to
experience. This is the power of awareness. What is your right hand
doing? Immediately
you feel the sensations coming from your left hand. What is your right
foot doing? What about your left ear? Awareness can move. It can move
very quickly. It
can move very slowly.
These two allies, breath and awareness, can be linked together to form
the powerful allies. When linked with the breath, awareness can move
life-force energy
through certain channels in the body. In the beginning, we do mean the
physical body, since awareness initially is physically oriented. After
steady practice,
one will become aware nadis and chakras, and the movement of energy in
the subtle body.
In this next exercise we will be learning to connect awareness with breath.
Moving Awareness combined with breath
This time, as you breathe in, move your awareness along with the air
entering your body. As you begin your inhale, become aware of the air
entering your
nostrils, follow it around the nasal passage, down the bronchial tubes,
all the way into the lungs, to where it expands against the diaphragm.
You can actually
feel sensations all of the way. Now exhale and bring your awareness back
outward with the breath, so that it reaches your nose with your last
bit of air.
Inhale again and move your awareness. Close your eyes, it may help you
to focus a little more on your awareness. The goal in this practice is
to get used to
moving the awareness in combination with your breath. An interesting
thing will happen, your mind may wander, thoughts may occur, but you can
still maintain
awareness of the sensations along your respiratory passage as the breath
goes in and out. Another thing has happened; your breathing has become
deep and
regular. Let the thoughts just occur. This separation of the thought
process from the breathing and awareness is a natural phenomenon. There
is no need to
force the mind to stop thinking. You have joined two great allies that
can overcome many obstacles along the inward path to transcendence.
* Note* If you have trouble with this exercise, you can practice moving
your awareness to your big toe. Do this by moving your awareness all the
way down your
chest, past your torso, down the leg, into the foot and up to the big
toe. To help you focus on the pathway, you can use a feather and trace
along your body,
to the big toe. Be mindful of your breathing as you are doing this
exercise.
Practice this step only if you have trouble with the exercise above. The
point of this step is to help you move your awareness, the feather
helps you feel the
sensations along the way until you get used to them. You couldn't very
well use the feather to trace your respiratory passage, as above so this
is the next
best thing. When you are able to comfortably able to do this step, then
go back and practice the above exercise.
Chakra & Nadis Systems
It is at this time we will look closely at the chakras and nadis systems.
It should be noted here that there are 7 major charkas, and those are
the ones we will be using. The minor ones we will not worry about at
this time, as the
only ones you will need to know for this system are the hand charkas and
they are located in the center of the palms. They are connected through
the arms and
shoulders to the heart chakra, so their color association will be the
same as the heart chakra. As stated earlier, the charkas are connected
to the spinal
cord; the spinal cord is the central energy channel in the body. The
spinal cord gives us a guide to use to ensure that the charkas are
aligned properly. The
nadis are the located on the front side of the body, and are the front
side of the (usually not dominant) charkas. The Bindu is another special
point in the
nadis system. It is on the top of the head where the hair spirals out.
This is the point where Monks usually shave their heads to have added
stimulation of the
Bindu. The Bindu is the equivalent, in the nadis system, of the crown
chakra. All of the color associations are the same for the charkas and
nadis.
Please refer to the following charts and remember the locations, colors,
and meanings of the charkas/ nadis. You may wish to print these as a
reference guide
to use until you have them memorized.
The exercise we will do now will teach you the way in which the energy moves through our chakra & nadis systems.
Please do not proceed until you have familiarized yourself with the areas and names of the charkas/nadis.
Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight. This can be any
sitting position. In whatever position you choose, the buttocks should
firmly make
contact with the ground or seat. If you are in a chair make sure that
your back is not touching the back of the chair, this will interfere
with sensing the
energy of the chakras.
Learning the energy flow: Chakra/nadis awareness technique
To begin, focus on your root chakra; move your awareness to your root
chakra. Just notice any sensations that might occur. Always start with
the root chakra
and always end with bringing the awareness back to the root chakra. We
will move the awareness from point to point by proceeding up the front
of the body and
then down the back of the body, back to the root chakra.
Spending enough time at each location to note any sensations or feelings.
After moving your awareness to the root chakra, note any sensations you
may experience and move on to the sacral nadis, note any sensations
here. Move on to
the solar plexus nadis, note any feelings here. Move on to the Heart
nadis, note sensations here. Move on to the throat nadis, noting any
sensations. Now move
your awareness to the bindu, note any feelings here and move to the 3rd
eye chakra, note any feelings here, move to the throat chakra, get any
sensations here?
Now move to the Heart chakra, note any sensations here and move on to
the solar plexus chakra. From here move to the sacral chakra, note any
sensations and
move to the root charka, completing the cycle. Continue this exercise 11
more times, noting your sensations each time.
This exercise is opening your system to promote the proper energy flow.
As you progress through the exercise, you should get stronger feelings,
sensations and
or images each time. After you have completed the exercise, please write
down your experience.
All charts will be posted on the final thread.
